Kelsey Cottrell joins South Tweed |
After a self-imposed six month sabbatical in 2008 to complete her schooling, Cottrell has relocated to the Gold Coast, restarted her career and has chosen South Tweed as her new bowling home. In a coup for South Tweed Sports, Kelsey selected the Club based on previous good experiences and the opportunity to play Premier League alongside the legendary Kelvin Kerkow.
In a whirlwind return, Cottrell had a win (playing 3rd) in the opening round of the 2009 Henselite Premier League QLD competition against Ipswich United, was recalled to the Australian Squad then was selected in the Perth International Series team to take on Malaysia, England and Scotland.
Kelsey is excited about her move and return to the Australian Squad. The Perth International Series is a tremendous opportunity and I can't wait to team up with Karen (Murphy), Robbie (Thompson) and Leif (Selby). South Tweed is very supportive and I hope that I can give my new clubs members something to cheer about when I'm wearing Club, State or National colours, commented Kelsey.
The Club is looking forward to seeing Kelsey on the local greens for the prestigious Ladies Black Douglas Singles for Masters, Ladies Pennants, Premier League and the odd game of Club Championships and Social play. Kelsey has had an extraordinary start to her career and we hope this continues onward and upward. Although her time will often be spent away bowling, I am sure our bowlers and members generally will embrace her as they did when Kelvin first joined our Club said Chairman Doug White.
Kelsey is an impressive young lady on and off the green and like Kelvin, quite modest and unassuming despite her success to date. She is a terrific role model for young sportswomen and we are proud to have her at South Tweed Sports, added Club Chief Executive Officer Gordon Rhodes.
