You may have read in the news, social media or have seen this on the TV or heard it on the radio today or late yesterday. A local Tweed person has contracted measles and NSW Health have put a media alert out to warn people who may have been at the same location as the person during the time they were contagious.
In our case, the person visited our Club on Sunday 4 December 2016 between 10.30am and 4.30pm and at that time they were unlikely to know they were contagious. The alert is to advise our members or guests who were in the Club during that time and day that if they are not fully immunised against measles or have had measles previously (you can only get it once) to be aware. If any symptoms develop (e.g. fever, runny nose, tiredness, cough etc for several days then a red blotchy rash) then it is recommended to phone their GP in advance before arriving for assessment to ensure they can be isolated from other patients.

This was a very short period of exposure and there is no concern whatsoever about visiting the Club now or in the future. If you have any questions please contact the Club on 07 5524 3655 or email the Club here or call North Coast Public Health Unit on 1300 066 055.
